G.L. Lampreau Contracting Ltd.
G.L. Lampreau Contracting Ltd.
G.L. Lampreau Contracting Ltd., owned and operated by Gerry Lampreau, began operation in the logging industry in 1996 and became incorporated in May 1997. As the longest standing logging contractor of the Simpcw First Nation, Gerry’s company has been provided skidding, excavating and processing services. Gerry began his company in the North Thompson Valley with a contract with Tolko Industries. Due to the Barriere Wildfire of 2003 and thus, the loss of the local mill, Gerry left the community for five years to work in Quesnel, BC. While in the Carrier Nation, Gerry provided the majority of his contracted work to Zapper Contracting Ltd., a sub-contractor for the Nazko Indian Band. Logging has always been the career of choice for Gerry. His love for the outdoors, his continued commitment to excellence and his desire for independence have been his driving force. Logging has taken him all the way from McKenzie in Northern BC to Kelowna in the Okanagan Valley and has provided him with a wealth of knowledge and expertise. In 2010, Gerry moved his family back to the Simpcw First Nation and is currently sub-contracting processing to Chinook Cove Contracting. Although he’s been offered many lucrative opportunities, Gerry chooses to be at the place of his birth – Chu Chua (he was actually born in his parent’s home), but more importantly, he desires to be close to his parents, family members and life-long friends. Gerry seeks new and challenging opportunities to expand his company and the services it offers. |

Chinook Cove Contracting
Chinook Cove Contracting Ltd. Chinook Cove Contracting Ltd., owned by Don Matthew, provides timber harvesting, silviculture services, right-of-way clearing, as well as earthworks (construction ). Chinook Cove Contracting Ltd. also has a Log Hauling Division - Roadmen Transport Inc. The company’s commitment and operations relating to silviculture – the branch of forestry that deals with the development and care of forests – has become renowned. In business for over a decade, the company has established a reputation for its sustainable forestry and safety practices. This contributed to its success in winning the bid to operate in the ecologically sensitive Jasper National Park area, a UNESCO World Heritage site. According to Don Matthew, Chinook Cove’s success is due to “great lines of communication – from the very first safety meeting to when the final machine is being moved out, no one is afraid to speak with anyone else to make sure goals are met.” ( Ministry of Small Business brochure) Recipient of:

Eustache Consulting
Lori Eustache,
Eustache Consulting is owned by a Simpcw First Nation member, which has an on-going joint venture with Frontier First Aid Services Ltd. to provide services in the first aid sector of BC. The goal of the joint venture is to hire First Nation members who hold a valid Level 3 First Aid ticket, drivers’ license and other safety tickets pertinent to the industry we work in. As part of this joint venture I am the southern interior director of operations with Frontier First Aid Services Ltd. I have also been involved in projects in northern BC in the oil and gas sector. We have been involved with Kinder Morgan Canada on various projects in the North Thompson valley with construction of numerous pumping stations and construction of power lines through Chapel Creek and Rearguard Fall with Atco Power. With the pipeline through Jasper into Mt. Robson Park, we actively pursued employees from Simpcw First Nation. However, there was no response or interest from Simpcw members. The Simpcw territories are the lands that future proposed projects such as pipelines and hydro lines are going to go through in the near future. The joint venture between Eustache Consulting and Frontier First Aid Services Ltd. is, and will continue to offer employment opportunities first to Simpcw members. This opportunity would place interested members in employment throughout the North Thompson valley and BC in various construction jobs in several different industries. Eustache Consulting and Frontier First Aid Services Ltd. are once again continuing to offer employment to interested Simpcw members as projects arise through the Simpcw territory.
