Health and Wellness

Mission Statement

Simpcw Health Board embraces and is committed to supporting the Simpcw in creating wellness in all aspects of life. Our holistic philosophy guides us to be healthy individuals that create healthy communities that are balanced in all phases of spiritual, physical, emotional and mental well being.
~ February 2008~

On January 1, 1999 the Simpcw Health Board officially began administering programs previously delivered by the First Nations & Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB) of the Federal Government. The Simpcw Health Board oversees a funding arrangement with FNIHB which will continue to March 31, 2012.

The Simpcw Health Board has been granted this mandate through a Band Council Resolution (BCR) and is guided by a Mission Statement which supports the concept of promoting holistic health and the Community Health Plan, which is based on health needs identified by a community needs assessment.

The Simpcw Health Board supports programming which is responsive to community needs. We believe that competent staff, working in concert with informed membership, can achieve our shared vision of holistic health for all. The Simpcw Health Board was formed in 1996 and is currently made up of nine (9) members of the community who volunteer their time to meet on a monthly basis to review Health Programs.
