Over the past couple decades the youth groups has grown and changed. A number of the band members have been involved in some form or another over that time.
Some of our accomplishments over the years have been: - field trips to Bella Coola & West Edmonton Mall- movie nights- sending teams or individual players to the North American Indigenous Games - successful fund raising to go on trips or purchase equipment- developing a Junior (age 6-10) & Senior (age 11+) youth groups - after school home work program - involvement in successful Youth Summer Employment program - active participation in cultural and language activities - participation in Youth Employment Work Initiative
For the past couple years the Simpcw First Nation through the Simpcw Health Board have supported a Youth Worker position and later on an assistant for the program. The Health Board put together what they would like to see from the position based upon previous planning sessions, involving youth input.
Today, we have a very active youth program involving approximately 85% of our community youth.
