Simpcw Health Program

The Simpcw Health Program, recipient of Accreditation with Commendation from Accreditation Canada, is a community-based service provider governed by the Simpcw Health Board and funded by First Nations Health Authority (FNHA). The Simpcw Health Board, comprised of seven (7) volunteer board members including one (1) Council Representative, has delegated responsibility and authority to plan, organize, and implement health programs and services for the Simpcw First Nation community as outlined in the Band Council Resolution (BCR), endorsed by Chief and Council on July 5, 2010.

The Simpcw Health Board supports the concept of promoting holistic health and is committed to supporting their Mission Statement: “The Simpcw Health Board embraces and is committed to supporting Simpcw in creating wellness in all aspects of life. Our holistic philosophy guides us to be healthy individuals that create healthy communities that are balanced in all phases of spiritual, physical, emotional and mental well-being.” February 2008

Based on the Community Needs Assessment 2011 and the Strategic Plan 2014/15, the Simpcw Health Program designs its programs and services to be responsive to the needs and priorities identified by the community, staff and leadership.

The Simpcw Health Program offers the following programs and services to the Simpcw Community:

  • Home and Community Care
  • Wellness/Addictions Referrals
  • Youth and Family Development
  • Clinical Counselling
  • Assisted Living
  • Elders Support & Recreation
  • Safe Drinking Water Initiative
  • Footcare
  • Medical Transportation
  • Aboriginal Diabetes Support and Counselling
  • Communicable Disease Control
  • Prenatal and Postnatal Support
  • Youth Summer Programs, including Youth Pre-Employment Program
  • Children’s Oral Health Initiative (COHI)
  • Head Start – Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Neqweyqwelsten School
  • Injury Surveillance & Prevention
