Natural Resources

The Simpcw Natural Resource Department (NRD) works in partnership with Simpcw Administration and Council, and is committed to the protection, conservation and management of resources found within Simpcúl’ecw.

The Natural Resource Department is responsible for monitoring any activity or project that could impact the multitude of resources found in Simpcw Territory. The NRD is involved in many different aspects of industry, and is capable of providing the following services:

  • Resource permitting
  • Contract negotiation, supervision and management;
  • Joint venture with industrial partners in forestry, mining, tourism and utilities;
  • Title & Rights research and coordination;
  • Contract and finance management of natural Resource- Related projects;
  • Organizing community meetings and info sessions for specific projects or long-term community infrastructure;
  • Fisheries enumeration, habitat restoration, hatchery management, education, conservation and protection of fish stocks;
  • Referrals management;
  • Archaeological surveys and investigations (PFR, AOA, AIA)
